A Waiter in Paris Announced as Movie Love Productions' Feature Debut

Movie Love Productions is proud to announce A Waiter in Paris, our debut feature film, with Leo Woodall and Clémence Poésy attached to star and Peter Hoar directing.

Adapted by Ben Hopkins from Edward Chisholm's best-selling memoir, the film follows Anglais — depressed, over-educated, and approaching thirty — as he arrives in Paris and resolves to prove himself by joining the sharp-suited brotherhood of Parisian waiters. Nights spill from the glamorous-looking brasserie into the streets of Bastille, bringing love, lust, and an exhilarating sense of belonging. But behind the façade of fine dining lies a world of exploitation and precarity, and as tensions rise among the staff, his glittering new life begins to crack.

The Filmmakers

Peter Hoar makes his feature directorial debut on the project. A double BAFTA TV Award winner and Emmy Award-nominated director, Hoar is best known for his work on The Last of Us and It's a Sin.

A Waiter in Paris is produced by Jason Solomons at Movie Love Productions alongside co-producer Phin Glynn (Argentina, 1985, Glenrothan).

The Cast

Leo Woodall takes the lead role of Anglais. Since his breakthrough in The White Lotus, Woodall has become one of the most in-demand British actors of his generation, with upcoming credits including Tuner opposite Dustin Hoffman, the A24 film Tony, and The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.

Clémence Poésy plays Pauline, the brasserie's manager. The French actor is widely known for her roles in In Bruges, the Harry Potter series, and The Tunnel.

Financing and Distribution

BBC Film and Curzon Film are financing the project, which was developed with the support of the Curzon CCM Fund. Eva Yates serves as Executive Producer for BBC Film.

Cornerstone Films has acquired worldwide sales rights and will launch the film at Cannes, co-repping the US with WME Independent. Curzon Film holds UK rights, with Cineart handling Benelux and Madman covering Australia.

The film will shoot on location in Paris, with FullDawa Films providing production services.
